SLC PUBLIC TRANSIT EXCEEDS TOTAL MONTHLY TRIPS
St. Lawrence County Public Transit (slcnypublictransit.com), operated by The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the placement of a new solar powered bus shelter in the public parking lot off of Munson Street in Potsdam on October 11, 2022. During the ceremony, Matilda Larson of the St. Lawrence County Planning Office announced that SLC Public Transit reached a new record with monthly trips at 10,900 in September. Howie Ganter, Chief Executive Officer of The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence, operator of SLC Public Transit, provided a welcome for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
SLC PUBLIC TRANSIT INSTALLS SOLAR BUS SHELTER IN POTSDAM
St. Lawrence County Public Transit (slcnypublictransit.com), operated by The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence, is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the placement of a new solar powered bus shelter in the public parking lot off of Munson Street in Potsdam. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 11th at 1:00 p.m. This will be a rain or shine event.
OFFICE FOR THE AGING AND SLC PUBLIC TRANSIT SPONSORING TRIPS TO THE FARMERS MARKETS
The St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging & St. Lawrence County Public Transit are sponsoring trips in August to local Farmers Markets for older adults. Those 60 and older are invited to enjoy a free round trip ride and lunch at the local farmers markets! On these trips, clients will learn and become comfortable with our local public transit, receive NYS Farmers Market Coupons for income eligible seniors, and help support local farmers in our community. Interested seniors must sign up by August 4th in order to receive a free bagged lunch. Please call 315-386-4730 to reserve your spot.
ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY EARNS NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR FIRST MILE LAST MILE
WASHINGTON – St. Lawrence County’s First Mile Last Mile Program has been recognized with an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents.
SLC PUBLIC TRANSIT BRINGING PEOPLE TO VACCINATION SITES
St. Lawrence County Public Transit (slcnypublictransit.com), operated by The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence, is offering route deviation to bring riders to COVID-19 vaccination sites. This service is available upon request as long as the locations are three quarters of a mile near the route. Passengers should ask the driver about route deviation when they board the bus.
SLC PUBLIC TRANSIT INSTALLS SOLAR BUS SHELTERS IN POTSDAM AND MASSENA
St. Lawrence County Public Transit (slcnypublictransit.com), operated by The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the County’s first solar-powered bus shelters. Thanks to supporting from the St. Lawrence Health Initiative, accessible, lighted shelters have been installed in Potsdam and Massena and are available for use.
SLC PUBLIC TRANSIT LAUNCHES MASSENA SHUTTLE
St. Lawrence County Public Transit (slcnypublictransit.com), operated by The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence, is launching a Massena Shuttle run, route #70, on August 3, 2020. This bus route originates in Canton daily and will travel throughout the town with regular stops in Hogansburg from Monday to Friday with extra stops in Canton, Madrid, and Waddington three days a week.
SLC PUBLIC TRANSIT CONTINUES TO WAIVE FARES AND HOLDS CONTEST FOR CASH PRIZES
St. Lawrence County Public Transit (slcnypublictransit.com), operated by The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence, announced that they will continue waiving fare collection until June 1st. Currently, customers must wear masks and may only travel for essential purposes until further notice.
UPDATE FOR APRIL 17, 2020
St. Lawrence County Public Transit will continue waiving fare collection until June 1st for customers needing to travel for essential purposes. Routes in operation are listed at http://slcnypublictransit.com/transit-schedules. Due to Governor Cuomo's last Executive Order, all riders must wear a mask to use the bus. Unfortunately, anyone without a mask or using a covering that goes over the nose and mouth will not be allowed to use Public Transit.
